Miyaru Kandu is a deep channel that connects the open ocean to the inner atoll lagoon. The channel is characterized by strong currents, which bring nutrient-rich waters into the atoll. These currents sustain a vibrant ecosystem and support the health of the coral reefs. Divers will find a mix of steep walls, overhangs, and coral gardens teeming with life. The visibility in the channel is often excellent, making it a favorite among underwater photographers and marine enthusiasts.

Marine LifeThe abundant marine life at Miyaru Kandu is a major draw for divers from around the globe. Sharks are the star attraction, with grey reef sharks frequently spotted patrolling the channel. During certain times of the year, and nurse sharks can also be seen. In addition to sharks, the channel is home to large schools of pelagic fish, including tuna, barracuda, and trevally.Manta rays and eagle rays are often seen gliding gracefully in the current, while hawksbill and green turtles are a common sight near the coral reefs. The channel also attracts vibrant reef fish, such as butterflyfish, parrotfish, and angelfish, creating a lively underwater scene. Macro enthusiasts can find nudibranchs, shrimps, and other small critters hiding among the coral.The strong currents also bring seasonal visitors, such as whale sharks and various species of rays, making every dive a unique experience.
